Telecom Technician

Description: A full-time vacancy reporting directly to the Operations Manager exists within Cochrane Telecom Services for a Telecom Technician. The successful candidate will bring his/her experience in this specialized technical environment, to provide the reliable delivery of several products to customers in the 272-exchange area. Start date to be determined.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma. Post-secondary in electrical field preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Calix, Metaswtich, Comtrend, T/Mon, and Ubiquiti systems an asset.
  • Knowledge of telephone / telecommunications industry an asset, as well as data systems.
  • Bucket truck, heavy equipment usage/ experience an asset.
  • Class G Driver’s Licence required (Class D would be an asset).
  • Bilingualism is an asset (French and English).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and customer service.
  • Good problem-solving skills and good physical condition.

Basic Position Outline:

  • Installing, repairing and troubleshooting residential and business telephones/systems.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing Central Office equipment, data circuits (T1’s, etc.), remote site.
  • Install and repair of DSL services to residential and business clients.
  • Installing, repairing and troubleshooting IPTV.
  • Perform after hours work of standby/ on-call emergency services of all duties and responsibilities as scheduled and maintain residency or accommodation as required.
  • Climbing poles/ ladders/ work in bucket trucks.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Salary:  As per current Collective Agreement.
